Bike share availability

Wondering whether there is a **nextbike** nearby before you leave the house? This TRMNL recipe puts live **bike-sharing availability** on your screen, showing where shared bikes are right now and how long it takes to walk to them. The map is centred on your chosen location and shows bikes and stations within a 20-minute walk. Filled pins represent bike-sharing stations, while hollow pins show bikes parked independently on the street. Numbers on a pin tell you when several bikes are available in the same place. Bikes just outside the map are not forgotten either: edge arrows show the direction, walking time, and number of bikes available. Prefer a simpler view? Switch to Text mode to see the nearest available bike, where it is, and how long it takes to walk there. The recipe works with nextbike's live network across more than 200 bike-sharing systems in 21 countries. Many operate under local names, including MyRadl in Munich, KVB Rad in Cologne, VETURILO in Warsaw, WienMobil Rad in Vienna, Bilbaobizi in Bilbao, and many more.

Connections

Ever stood at the door wondering whether to run for the bus or grab a share bike instead? Nearby Nextbike shows you exactly where the bikes are right now.

It puts a live map on your TRMNL, centred on your front door, showing every bike within a twenty minute walk. Walking distances are drawn right on the map, based on your map settings. Filled pins are stations, hollow pins are bikes someone parked on the street, and a small number on a pin means several bikes in one spot. If almost nothing is close by, arrows at the edge of the map point to bikes just out of frame, with the walk time and number of bikes in that direction. A bike four minutes past the edge is still worth knowing about if you were heading that way anyway.

Prefer words to pictures? Set "What the screens show" to *Text*. Instead of a map, you get the closest bike, where it is, and how long it takes to walk there, which works especially well in cities with station based bike sharing.
